A me
ssage from your treasurer

It costs £85 a day just to keep the church running (heating, lighting, insurance etc.) before we pay anything towards our Parish Share, which should be another £85 per day.

We have an excellent income from our Gift Day, coffee mornings, vestry lunches, concerts and other social events, but it is our income from regular giving that we rely on to pay the bills.

The costs of running our parish are continually increasing, and like every church, we have to become more self-financing. Although costs rise for everyone, circumstances change for each of us as each year passes. As it comes to the time of year when we issue the envelopes to our regular givers, I’d like to make several appeals:-

bullet Rather than wait for a major stewardship campaign, we suggest that you annually  review your own commitments, but this is entirely up to you.
bullet If you don’t already use the envelope scheme, please consider giving regularly and joining the scheme. See our envelope secretary for more information.
bullet If you pay tax and have not already signed a Gift Aid declaration, please give it serious consideration. We can claim back 28 pence for every £1 you donate. Please see the Gift Aid secretary for a form if you can help in this way. There is also more information with Questions & Answers on Gift Aid at the back of the church.
bullet Finally please consider giving your regular donation by bank standing order. This not only saves you finding the right notes or coins each week, but reducing the work in counting and banking the cash. If you decide to give in this way we can still provide you with envelopes to put in the collection marked ‘I give by standing order’.  Forms for standing orders can be obtained from the treasurer or the Gift Aid secretary.

I look forward to being able to report a healthy growth in our donations which will allow the PCC to meet all of its commitments and increase the proportion of our income we give to charities.
